Over the years I have viewed, with indignation and issue, the proliferation of inspirational speakers in pulpits. I've viewed just how many churches and preachers are changing the gospel of Jesus Christ with inspirational speaking. I have watched how some of these preachers have actually developed huge churches and empires with this make of the “gospel.” But a whole lot worse, I have viewed how droves of people have been fooled into thinking that they're finding fed the Bread of Living; i.e. the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ, not knowing that they are being served inspirational speeches on a platter, spiced with scriptures. But I'm not as worried about these motivational speakers in pulpits, as I'm concerned with the spiritual well being of the thousands of people participating their churches; and the a few million worldwide tv visitors whose lives are being impacted by their teachings. It is that matter for the spiritually powerless that has light emitting diode me to present some of these preachers for who they are really; to advise you, the fans and would-be supporters of these preachers. I write to alert the Human body of Christ about any of it expansion in the Church; the threat of inspirational talking sold as the gospel; and to show you how to identify a inspirational speaker in the pulpit once you encounter one; which I claim, unfortunately, that there are numerous out there. Therefore, let's begin by determining the 2 leading inspirational speakers in pulpits or what I call, “inspirational preachers.” The two leading inspirational preachers of our time are Pastor Joel Osteen of the New Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter's House, Dallas, Texas! Surprised? Perhaps! Perhaps not! Nevertheless, if you are surprised to find out that those two are inspirational preachers, possibly it's as they are your preferred preachers. Possibly, it's because you have always thought them to be “E Great Ones.” Or maybe it's because of their achievement, reputation, ministry measurement, followership, etc. or even because of the great they have done in society. For example, Jakes'Person Thou Artwork Loosed guide or jail outreach ministry. Or Osteen's guide, Your Most readily useful Living Now. As humans, we have a tendency to feature worldly accomplishment, great works, ministry size, reputation, followership, etc. with godly success. Therefore, the larger a church, the popular or effective a preacher, the more success we believe a person or organization has. We actually credit these achievements to God's blessings. But worldly accomplishment, excellent performs, ministry measurement as well as large followership is not necessarily the way of measuring godly success. An individual can have each one of these, yet perhaps not be godly. For example, Oprah Winfrey has every one of these features, and yet she's not a preacher; neither can her success be looked at godly; because of what she espouses. So we can't go by worldly success, good works, reputation, ministry measurement or even followership. In fact, T.D. Jakes in a CNN/TIME article was described as “Oprah-in-a-pulpit. But also for Winfrey's common spirituality, Jakes alternatives God.” That is to state that, if Oprah were to become a preacher, she'd probably have among the greatest churches in the world! But thankfully, she has enough sense in which to stay her street (at least for now). So, every one of these characteristics have nothing to do with godly success! But just before we look at why Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes are motivational preachers, let us first understand what inspirational speaking is, the benefits of inspirational talking and the threat of packaging motivational speaking as the Stephen Pierce. Simply, inspirational speaking is an stimulating, beneficial presentation; designed to motivate the fans to accomplish greater and be better in unique aspects of their lives. In an expression, the motivational speaker is an encourager – i.e. the people's encourage leader. He or she motivates people into action. Motivational talking is based generally on mental or individual power and not God's strength. It is just what a individual can perform in his / her own strength, as opposed to what Lord may do through anyone in His strength.
